Tripadvisor Koh Samui - Bath - Ancient Roman City in England
And a wealth of history to go along with it, it's got fantastic architecture. Then Bath is a great place to pay a visit, if you're looking for somewhere historical to go within England.
Near the southern edge of the Cotswold Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is at the bottom of the Avon Valley. In the county of Somerset, bath is an historic Roman city in south west England.
You can see one city down to one side and the other city down to the other side, on the Cotswold Hills, on Kelston Round Hill. To which it is linked by the A4 road, a larger city and port, bath is approximately 15miles (24km) south-east of Bristol.
It became a World Heritage Site in 1987. Created from the natural hot springs, the city is famous for its Roman Baths. Sulis being a name that was around at the time, which translated means "the Waters of Sulis", which is where it got its original Roman name Aqua Sulis from, the city is at the site of some naturally occurring hot springs.
Include some peoples gardens, although these plans have met with some local opposition as it will involve demolishing certain other parts of the city, there has recently been a decision by the authorities to take measures to try to improve the flow of traffic through the city. Ride car parks on the edge of the city and catch a bus into the centre; the best choice for shoppers and tourists visiting the city for the day is to park in one of the Park &. Due to the annoying one-way road system and also the busy traffic, modern Bath is locally famous for being difficult to drive round.
The nearby scenery is pretty good too. The city also has two universities and a number of good schools and colleges. Including the superb famous Royal Crescent, if you can afford to live there you are rewarded with wonderful architecture, however. Bath is a very expensive city to live in.
